About Joan Barbara Simon

Writer and researcher, Joan Barbara Simon (Ph.D.) was educated at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, The Open University and at Goldsmiths College, University of London. She has recited on the radio, at art exhibitions, open mike sessions, literature festivals, diverse conferences on New English Literatures and at the Leipzig Book Fair. More recently, she has performed at the Philharmonie in Luxembourg, and collaborated with the poets Desmond Graham and Gordon Mead. Joan is also committed to investigating children's literacy development and practice, with the aim of making her findings available for the community at large. Her major ongoing projects include a Ph.D. in Creative Writing, a spoken word CD and a series of educational publications for parents, children and other stakeholders.
