Tom Dunlop adores soccer above all else, but his trillionaire parents hate the game and forbid him to play it. Luckily, Walsworth, the family butler, is himself a former soccer player who recognizes Tom's talent and secretly trains him into a ball-kicking marvel.
But Tom's ambitions of becoming a pro player are all but thwarted when famed robotics engineer Professor OK-OK invents the world’s first Footbot, a soccer-playing android with superhuman physical abilities. A global league of Footbots is quickly formed and people lose all interest in boring old human sport, crushing the athletic dreams of kids everywhere.
As soccer's most famous clubs go out of business, a glimmer of hope appears in the form of Salvatore "Salsala" Salazar, soccer's greatest ever coach. To save the game from extinction and return humanity to its former glory, he announces a plan to recruit the eleven most gifted 13-year-olds in the world and train them to one day defeat the best of the Footbot clubs. He calls his team the Heavenly Eleven, and Tom is determined to escape his parents' clutches and earn himself a spot.
