There is no way I can write a review & do it any justice.
Just simply mind blowing-ly good !!! I can handle the dark storyline, this is a million times darker but I enjoyed every "omg" moment. I felt like I was living in this story, extremely well written. I can reread these books five times & never lose interest

C.J Roberts had me falling in love with Caleb & Livvie !! These books just stay in your mind for a very long time.
The ending was perfect & was almost in tears for Livvie, I truly felt the emotion she was going through !!

I hope there is a book 3 coming ! :)

Incredible story...waited several months before I started the second book. Bought it in October but couldn't bring myself to start it until January...wonderful read- the first was so dark and hard but so compelling! I enjoyed the first and knew what I was getting in the second. Enjoyed the characters and the way the story developed. Very clever set up of this story from the beginning. Can't stop thinking about the characters. Thank you for a compelling read!!

I read both books in 3 days. People, WE HAVE A GREAT NEW AUTHOR TO ENJOY! I can't imagine what a dark place C.J. had to go in order to write this wonderful story. I think the story ended at the perfect point. So many great story lines get tired and boring when it gets pushed into 3 and 5 book deals. Never in my 20+years of reading has a book made my heart pound like the bar scene w/Caleb and Tiny. I felt like I was Livvie at that very moment. Thank you C.J. Roberts! You have another life long fan.

I don't know what to say about this book(both books)except that it is probably one of the most FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC STORIES I HAVE EVER READ! I want MORE, MORE, MORE and I wish I could give it 50+ AMAZING FREAKIN' STARS!!

I am not going to write a review the story for two reasons, first, there are a lot of wonderful reviews out there and for as wonderful as they are you really need to actually meet these people to even come close to understanding the amazing-ness of these characters. And second, because since the story encompasses two books and I am so in love with this story I am afraid I would ramble and give away some important spoiler and it would break my heart to take any of the awesome of experience of these books away from the reader!

So I am going to leave you with a few of my favorite lines in this book and I am going to say that if you don't mind your emotional love story a bit gritty and dark at times go get these books, I can honestly say you won't be disappointed, in fact I can pretty much guarantee you will be amazed how much you love it!

It seemed to Caleb, the nature of human beings revolved around one empirical truth: we want what we cannot have. for Eve, it was the fruit of the forbidden tree. For Caleb, it was Livvie.

He recalled the press of her lips against his scars. She kisses my scars and I create new ones for her.

"He used to talk to me at night. It was almost like the dark gave us permission to be ourselves, to put aside that he was my kidnapper, and the man responsible for all the terrible things that happened to me during the day. But you have to understand, for all that Caleb did, he protected me too, in his own ways. It could have been so much worse for me without Caleb."

LOVED IT, LOVED IT, LOVED IT!!!!

I tried to stretch the reading of this book out but just finished it last night. I found the first book in this series (Captive in the Dark) a few weeks ago and was glad I didn't have to wait long for the 2nd book.

Just like the first, this book did not disappoint. I loved both main characters - which is hard to pull off when Caleb is a kidnapper/sex slave trainer with plans to sell Livvie. Livvie was strong, and even as she bent to survive her situation, she kept that toughness, even while falling in love with her kidnapper. The characters were so well developed with pieces of information as you read, no info dump. The book was paced well and an exciting read. Plot was solid and the author kept the quality up throughout the book. So many times when you get a few chapters into a book (especially one with erotic elements), it just falls apart. This one didn't with (once again) terrific plot and hot sex scenes (more than in the first book). My only complaint would be that I'd love a third installment in this series...

I will stop rambling now but if you're not sure whether or not to buy it, do - you will not be disappointed.

While reading both the first book and now the second book, Seduced in the Dark, I had to question my thoughts and what I felt about things and whether or not I needed to talk to a therapist. I enjoy books that make you feel so emotionally conflicted and this book does that. I'm happy how it ended and to even learn that there is possible another book connected to the series maybe coming out. I look forward to reading more from CJ Roberts.

Review by: Kathy Womack on Sep. 15, 2012 :
CJ Roberts, what have you done to me?! SITD absolutely took my breath away...consumed me...was consumed by me...and will be INSIDE of me for a long, long time! I'm so completely blown away by this story, and it has my thoughts going in so many directions, I'm at a loss for words...and I'm not alone. My Facebook friends are right there with me.

To be honest, I didn't think it could get any better than Captivated in the Dark...but I was so wrong! I only thought CITD was "dark." This book took me on a deeper journey into the darkness that is so Caleb. So much was revealed of Caleb's life, his past, his experiences, and what made him the man he became. I was so confused at the feelings coming from me. The adventure on which the author took me, from the first book through the last, was truly captivating! My heart broke for Caleb, and I found myself screaming so many times, "Nooooooo!!!!" I was hurting so badly. I was thinking to myself, where is CJ going with this?! No, it can't be!!

But then, my reading hit that pivotal point, and I hated Caleb. I didn't think it possible, but I really did HATE him in those moments. I was sickened by his actions and his treatment of Livvie. He was beyond cruel.

But then I came to the point ... I pitied Caleb. So much of his experiences were on repeat visually in my mind. My poor Caleb. I cried...no, I SOBBED! Can you feel the roller coaster I'm on? My stomach was literally clinching and heaving! Caleb had to survive so much...alone...throughout his tortured life. How could I not pity him ... and love him? Once again, I am feeling as though I should pack my bags, skip any visits to a therapist, and just move right into the nearest mental institution.

One minute, Caleb seems human and with a heart of gold ... like he might just be capable of receiving and giving love. The next minute, he is savage!

Oh! The hurt!! I loved hating Caleb, and I hated loving Caleb. Then, I just accepted loving Caleb and all of his screwed up, demented, disturbing, and sickening ways. I chose to believe he really loves Livvie; I was convinced of that in the first book, and I'm still convinced in this one. He's always wanted her, lusted for her. But, does he win her? Is he redeemable? Does he get to keep her? Will they have a happy ever after, or will they part ways for good?

I'm pretty sure I have welts on my own back side from just reading this book! I really felt everything in this book! CJ Roberts has given us nothing short of brilliance. She gave me such angst, fear, a big twist...and then another big twist, and tears ... so many blessed tears! I found myself begging and saying out loud while reading, "Oh! Please, please, please, let it happen!!" I found myself doing the happy, happy, joy, joy dance at one point , only to to be vivisected the next! Yes, CJ Roberts, I too have been vivisected!! To describe this book, I would have to say that Seduced in the Dark has created its own genre. It is an exotic, psychological, erotic, romantic, BDSM thriller that will take you into the darkest of regions you didn't even know existed. I recommend that you read Captive in the Dark, first to really understand where this book is coming from; you won't be disappointed. I give this book so many more than 5 stars and recommend it to those who willing to take a thrilling ride on the dark side.

Ah-mazing is the first thing that comes to mind. I was not expecting such an emotional roller coaster. There were times I found myself hating Caleb and other times cheering in his corner.. I hated what he represented and what he did to Livvie but in the end I wanted him to have his HEA.. As crazy as that might sound.. I was totally blown away. I can't articulate enough how much I loved this book.

I could not stop reading this story it is so good. I read until I could not keep my eyes open. As soon as I opened my eyes, I started reading Seduced in the Dark again. It was not until I finish reading the story that I realized I did not even stop reading to make myself something to eat. I am sad this story has ended. I could not put this book down, I loved Captive in the Dark, but this book Seduced in the Dark had my emotions from one end of the spectrum to the other. I Laughed, cried, and sometimes held my breath for what seemed like pages. An absolutely fantastic book, the characters where well developed and very real. There were times I wanted to slap the snot out of some of them, and sometimes just love them.

Review by: Drunken Fairy on Sep. 02, 2012 :
The BDSM genre is so not my thing plus I find they are formulaic. You know the heroine is gonna get a big ol' heaping of whup ass, humiliation and somewhere along the line an enema.

Anyway so as I was saying, BDSM genre not my thing but in 2011 I lost a bet and as payback my friend loaded Captive In The Dark the first book in the Dark Duet series onto my kindle. Turns out the joke was on her. I totally loved the book. I also wouldn't classify the series as BDSM at all or erotica for that matter. Not that there is anything wrong with those categories except that to categorize this series into the genre tends to narrow the audience it will appeal to and that is a disservice to the books and author because the series is so much more than what the BDSM/Erotica categories imply. I can actually envision this series as an action/thriller movie men would even want to see while still retaining its appeal to women. If you loved "mommy porn" 50 Shades of Grey you will absolutely go stark raving bonkers over the Dark Duet Series. Ms. Roberts is a phenomenal writer, the story is original, the sex is steamy and all of the characters come across as real.

If you're expecting in depth plot summary or spoilers then my review is not for you. There are enough reviews here to fill that need. I think that other than the author summary going into a book with no idea of what the story is about makes for better reading.

I didn't think it was possible but the sequel to the series, Seduced In The Dark is actually better than the first book ! From the very first book Ms. Roberts by giving us glimpses into Olivia's life has made the reader aware that Olivia aka "Kitten" is a kick ass heroine. When she is abducted by Caleb you know she is not just going to roll over and let him break her instead she goes into survivor mode. She lets those in charge think they have mastered in reality she has mastered her abductor.

Her abductor is just one big ol' mass of dysfunction. There are times when you will absolutely hate him and wonder why Olivia would even fall in love with him. Yeah, she falls in love with him despite all she goes through. Before you roll your eyes trust me he is worthy of her love even if he doesn't think so. Caleb is a conflicted man, motivated by love and loyalty. As a child he was kidnapped taken to a foreign country and forced to endure a life filled with physical, mental and sexual abuse. Seduced In The Dark is full of plot twists, fantastic characters and secrets...lots of secrets. This book will touch you emotionally. There were times when I despised Caleb and the people that surrounded him yet there were times when those same people managed to strike a chord of sympathy within me. When Caleb abducted Olivia she was meant to be an instrument of revenge a mean to an end instead she ended up being Caleb's salvation.

When I was done with the book the first thought that popped into my head was that it would be very easy for Ms. Roberts to spin off the series into other books. There were quite a few characters I was intrigued enough with that I'd want to see what happened to them after Olivia's story came to an end. I hope that CJ will write about them in the future. In a nutshell SITD was an emotional roller coaster ride, riveting, heart breaking, hard to put down and best of all no enemas! I know it will be one of those books that I will be reading over and over again.

Bravo Ms. Roberts, Bra-freaking- vo!

This book is amazing, just as good as the first (Captive in the Dark) This read will mess with your head and if you are at all bothered by non vanilla sex among other things is isn't the book for you... This author is amazing at getting you to see things from both points of view and often times has you rooting for the "bad guy" I simply love her sick twisted beautiful mind. I read a lot of books and fan-fiction but no story has ever captivated me the way this book and the previous one has. When it comes to dark, twisted messed up relationships this author knows her sh*t. I can't wait to read more from her. Hands down 5 starts and that's just cuz they make you stop at 5

Review by: Sara Stanton on Aug. 31, 2012 :
To quote the author, “If you’re reading this and you haven’t read Captive in the Dark, turn back! You’ll be lost.”

I read Captive in the Dark this July 4th, not meaning to read it at all but just peek into it and see if I could handle it. I was so lost in the story within the first few pages I completed it that day. With Seduced in the Dark it was different. I knew where the story had ended and where it might go. I was so ready for this book to come out and had the pleasure of reading it early as I was a project contributor for it.

What I wasn’t ready for was the emotional journey CJ Roberts would take me on. I fell hard for Captive in the Dark with its beautiful mind trip of a story and Seduced in the Dark did just that, seduced me. It seduced me to the point I would have done anything to read it and be drawn into this world that I wanted to be in yet was so frightened to witness. I couldn’t and wouldn’t dare leave until it was over. **Deep Breaths!**

“Caleb has made me into this. I am everything he wanted me to be. And in the end, what did I get in return?”

Seduced in the Dark takes place roughly four months after we leave Caleb and Livvie battered, confused and wanting something that neither one of them can have. What takes place after that is such a wild ride with twists and turns you find yourself guessing what will happen next and each time coming up short. The author winds a tale around a new cast of characters in a menagerie of intrigue, pain, pleasure, heartbreak and sacrifice that will have you gripped by the gonads, glued to the page and you will not be able to put it down.

There is so much I cannot say in this review as I do not want to spoil it for the reader; it just needs to be read. I will say that I read this into the wee hours of the morning and was a total mess after it. I am still a mess as I write this almost a week after finishing it, yeah it is THAT GOOD!

Nothing in this book is filler; it all has a point and a purpose. There are so many lines that left me breathless, left me with chills but never left me questioning the integrity of the characters or the author. Caleb and Livvie have tough choices to make; when they are finally made this desperate reader was stunned. Jaw on the floor type of stunned. Did I mention how good this book is?

“As I walked, I could feel his eyes on me, the way I could always feel his eyes on me. Tears ran down my face unabashed, but I didn’t move to wipe them away. I had earned those tears; and I would wear them as a symbol of everything I had been through. They represented all the pain I had suffered, the love I felt and the ocean of loss sweeping through my soul.”

To say that Seduced in the Dark is one of the best books I have read this year would be putting is mildly. The story that CJ Roberts has given us is breathtakingly gorgeous. Each scene plays out in your head with a vivid reality that is beautifully arranged; you will feel a part of the story, not just a voyeur.

I asked the question in my review for Captive in the Dark. “Is there such a thing as redemption for the truly wicked regardless of what led them to evil?” I finally got my answer with Seduced in the Dark.

“I had finally learned to obey and never looked back.”
