Extended description

Plain Helen, frumpy, dumpy, frizzy haired freshman Helen, who will love plain Helen? Certainly not the handsomest, smartest, even-tempered, good-humored High School Senior, scholar, football athlete, hunk, Kurt Lance. Though he notices her kind innocent sweet nature, he is quickly tempted away by other girls, some just as sweet-natured, and prettier. Like many of the girls in school, Plain Helen has a crush on Kurt and never quite forgets.

Ten years later, slightly less frumpy dumpy but still plain rainy day frizzy-haired Helen, employed in a publishing firm, is offered a promotion to an editorial position. But first she must apprentice with a full-fledged editor. She accepts and the following morning walks into the office of her new boss who turns out to be Kurt. Of course, she sighs, he doesn't remember her. Why should he? Or does he?

Wow! This was such a beautiful Christian romance. It's my new favorite of all the author's books. I love the plot: a wallflower type of teenage heroine who falls in love with a gorgeous upperclassman and holds onto the memory of that one special evening she spent with him only to end up working with him when they're adults.

Helen is awkward and plainer than her fellow classmates in high school, and she's sitting alone at a dance when she falls down. Kurt, the popular guy who has his choice of girls, rushes to help her up and dances with her to ease her from embarrassment. From there, they exchange a few hellos in the hallway but soon he graduates and moves on. A few years later, she's working at a publishing company, and the new editor hired to train her is Kurt. Is this the chance she's been waiting for to be with him at long last?

This story was just so beautiful. You were never quite sure if Kurt returned Helen's feelings or not. There were moments where it seemed that he might, but then the moment would go away and you were left wondering. In everything he did, he was respectful toward her. This is the kind of hero you can fall in love with again and again.
