No One Would Listen
Poppy and Ivan had five children and a very rocky marriage relationship.
She opens the story with a scene: Only a few days before they have to leave the house, Poppy is told that her husband has secretly arranged to send her and their five young children to live with his sister on a distant and primitive farm. He was not going. Poppy was very upset; and instead, she accepted a job with her brother as cook for his logging camp.

She tells of meeting her husband, falling in love, getting married and happy for a few years. Ivan quit his job and started a business of his own. Poppy had to help in the business plus care of the babies and the household. The business failed and Ivan's personality seemed to change. (Read more)
