WahWashKesh in central Ontario, Matachewan in Northern Ontario, Major Street in Toronto: these are all the haunts of my childhood. About Lisa Dee

I am a writer of short stories currently residing in Canada. I write both genre (horror and SF) and literary pieces. Some of my favourite authors are Austen, Dickens, Shakespeare, E. M. Delafield, and E.F. Benson.

My latest collection is a series of lite horror short stories entitled He Sees You When You're Sleeping - available on Smashwords and Amazon.

Feedback is certainly welcome. Thanks!

Review by: Jenifer Mohammed on Oct. 05, 2013 :
After finishing Dee's collection of horror stories, "He Sees You When You're Sleeping," I was intrigued by the idea of reading another collection of her stories to see how her writing voice would change in these more autobiographical but still highly stylized stories. Her descriptions of life were so vivid that I almost felt as if I were watching a movie and the scenes were unfolding in front of my eyes. There was an unexpected, menacing undercurrent to many of these tales that was surprising but definitely thrilling. I kept thinking of Margaret Atwood, Flannery O'Connor, and Guy Vanderhaege's works as I read through this eclectic collection. My first impulse after reading through this collection is to go back and re-read Matachewan immediately to savour these unusual and surprising stories more lingeringly. For me, that is the proof of good writing. Buy this collection if you want to feel a little frisson of unease at many of the unsettling images and strange characters you will encounter within. You will enjoy immersing yourself in this world.
