About Andreas Oertel

Hi, and thanks for visiting my my author page.

I was born in Germany, but have lived most of my life in Manitoba, Canada (right in the middle of the country). I have degrees from the University of Winnipeg, and the British Columbia Institute of Technology. That doesn't mean I'm especially smart, I just didn't know what to do with my life - so I kept taking courses.

And by the way, I'm the tallest writer in Canada. Interesting, huh?

Anyway, in addition to writing books for young people, I enjoy reading, traveling, movies, and scanning the local beaches for treasure with my trusty metal detector (nicknamed "Lucky").

If you read any of my books, please let me know what you think.

Be excellent to each other,

I know I'm bragging now, but here's what some of the critics have said about my writing:

“…pure fun, succeeds as a fast-paced adventure…” – Kirkus Reviews
“Kids with a soft spot for Indiana Jones-style adventure will eat up the book.” – Movie Entertainment
“Oertel keeps the tension mounting…” – Booklist
“Readers will have a ball wondering what can come next.” – CM Canadian Review of Materials
“Oertel keeps the action moving while sprinkling the text with fascinating details.” – Montreal Review
“Oertel’s dialogue is clever, his characters are convincing, and there’s a good combination of historical information and fantasy.” – Winnipeg Free Press

I enjoyed reading this book. It was full of adventures and a bit funny. Cedric was an awesome character though now I wish there was more of his adventures to read.
