This is a captivating fantasy tale that will have you turning page after page wanting more. The characters are so well described they make you feel what they are going through, all the trials, situations, and danger they face. You have a few hero's, some bad witch's, and a world that is changing environmentally. Markus at first has you wanting to smack him to get his attention to his brother's suffering and put a stop to it, his uncaring attitude towards animals that triggers the curse, and yet once faced with the possibility of never seeing his brother again, he changes and learns compassion. By the end of this novel you will love the characters and be cheering for their triumph. The only thing that's hard is waiting on the next one to be completed!!!

Amazing book. The story line was enough to keep you on the edge of your seat and following Markus on his quest while he grew in spirit and as a young man kept me wanting more. I can't wait for the next book.

This is a great book. There is nothing else to say about it. The story flows perfectly well and not only did I enjoy it, but so did my son. The twist and turns are brilliantly played out that it will keep you guessing whether or not the final picture has been revealed right up to the point that the last words have been written. And the characters are a joy to read about and watch develop.

I can't say enough good things about Tara West and Curse of the Ice Dragon! I hadn't read anything by her before so I didn't really know what to expect, but if I had to make a comparison the name J.K. Rowling springs to mind. The story is fast paced and every sentence belongs. In the beginning I wanted Markus to fail because I saw him as a coward but by the end I was his number one fan! This book had it all, it took me thru a range of emotions with the characters from love to hate. The one and ONLY complaint I have with this book is that I have to wait SO long for the next one to come out! Tara West has definitely earned a place on my favorite authors list and I will be checking out her other series as well.

This is a stunner of an opening series that I read in 2 sittings.

Without going into too much detail, the main character - Markus - has a journey to make and not just a physical one. He has to deal with things from his past from other people that have affected him as well as living by the choices and decisions that he has made. This book takes you on that journey with him.

The characters and places named in this book are all very believable. There has obviously been a lot of work in the preparation of them all and how they link together. Loved it.

If I had one complaint to make, it's that the next book isn't available until 2013.
