About James Vernon

I grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia exploring the worlds of Terry Brooks, Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, and David Eddings. A fan of video games as well I always felt myself drawn more to the ones that told a great story. Whether it was flying around fighting the alien Kilrathi in Wing Commander, fighting off an alien invasion in X-Com, or becoming a great hero in the Quest for Glory series, the stories and worlds I found in those games still bring me back to play them every now and then even today.

I would love to say that my educational background was heavy in English Composition and Creative Writing. While those skills would have made the writing process much easier, I actually studied Mathematics in Education. While I love the creativity involved in finding new and interesting ways to teach my students, my main passion has always been in fantasy worlds. Luckily (or unluckily if you ask my wallet) each year because of transfers my job has moved me further and further away. This has turned into over two hours of a commute every day, which I have turned into my brainstorming sessions for my own world.

My hope is to create a world that does not generate me huge sums of money and book/movie deals. I certainly feel no need to be the next J. K . Rowling (although I love the Harry Potter series). My only goal for this blog and for the world I create is to have characters and a story that people can immerse themselves in and enjoy just as much as I enjoy them.
