His Words

“His Words” is a memoir about a man who paid the ultimate price for his country. He was a West Point graduate, a Gulf War veteran, a Captain in the Army and my husband. I relate how he was able to give me the courage to keep moving on as I read his letters from the past. The advice and encouragement he gave me as I raised our children can now inspire all who struggle through life's hardships. More

About Darla Reed

I'm a military widow and mother to three amazing children and I am a Mormon. My 20 year old son is on a 2 year mission in Ghana, Africa. My daughters, a junior and senior in high school, have kept me busy with sports, student council, pageants, singing and acting. I finished my BA in Integrative Studies as I juggled their schedules and am now a Manager with Lifewave. As I anticipated the 10 year anniversary of my husbands death, I decided I wanted to write a book about his incredible life. He inspired many people while here and I didn't want that to end, especially with his own children. The book I've written is for them but I hope also to inspire others with the legacy he left behind.

She may never truly know how much this book has meant to me. As a single mother of 1 for 11 years of a biracial son who also has never mt his father she gives laughs when needed, cries throughout the book, and hope that happily ever after is still possible. I have wondered forever evening knowing her family if she ever wanted to remarry.....did Cinderella want anyone but Prince Charming? I salute you Darla for the courage and strenghth it took to write this precious book. One of my favorite songs I sing every nite to my 3 yr old is I Can Only Imagine.....now my voice sqeaks as I cry and sing. I can picture your joyous reunion when Prince Charming puts your glass slipper back on your foot that he has kept in remembrance of his Cinderella~~ Alecia (Thom) Johnson
