‘The High King' is an epic fantasy story and the second book in the ‘Riothamus’ trilogy.

Unexpectedly and reluctantly Arantur, descendant of Warleader Andur has been thrust into high kingship. With new duties and responsibilities pressing upon him, he feels unprepared for the challenges that lie ahead. Arantur must mobilise an army and take that army to war against an implacable enemy that threatens the peace of his province.

He must also come to terms with a new and frightening mage ability that he has inherited, an ability that imperils his sanity and which he must attempt to control before it overwhelms him. However, despite his tribulations and a terrible battle, Arantur has the support of his friends and the comfort of a new love.
