An ocean liner disappears without trace in 1908. An unaccounted for nuclear blast occurs in the southern ocean in 1979. A report from a committee stated that fifty years of experience has proved the pursuit of the long-term management of radioactive waste as non viable. The illegal disposal of nuclear waste however continues, secretly sanctioned by the major superpowers. Within this backdrop, a young divorcee socialite crosses paths with a man that will defy everything she has ever known of life, men, and of her own value system. Set in modern day South Africa and the Southern Ocean, these two unlikely characters are brought together in a double mystery: a nuclear waste disposal cover-up and a one hundred year old government conspiracy - both of which provide a plausible backdrop to one of the greatest nautical mysteries of all time. Characters and self-discovery are provoked throughout the hardships experienced in a unique ocean, by beautiful encounters with nature, and by a broken hearted and tormented man that exemplifies courage, selflessness, and human endurance.
