About R.E. Butler

A Midwesterner by birth, R.E. spent much of her childhood rewriting her favorite books to include herself as the main character. Later, she graduated on to writing her own books after "retiring" from her day job as a secretary to become a stay-at-home mom.

When not playing with her kids, wrestling her dogs out the door, or cooking dinner for her family, you'll find her typing furiously and growling obscenities to the characters on the screen.

Her best-selling series The Wolf's Mate, Wiccan-Were-Bear, The Necklace Chronicles, Hyena Heat, Wilde Creek, and Ashland Pride are available now.

I love theses stories. And Michael and Shyne were no different. I love the slow build up to these stories.
I love the dynamics of the other characters in these books.
And shocked when 3 hyena characters were introduced.
Highly reccomend these books.

This is another winner in the Wolf's Mate series. Michael and Shyne bring another engaging element to the wolf pack. The book makes an excellent segue into the world of the hyena pack for the new series with the opening book of Every Night Forever (Hyena Heat One).

Michael was starting to feel as if he would never find his truemate. As he watched his brother and other packmates find bliss with their mates, Michael resigned himself to a miserable half-life without his. When he meets Shyne at the County Fair, he knows she’s his truemate. However, Shyne’s were-hyena bosses want her for themselves and are willing to do anything to make her their mate – including kidnapping Michael to get him out of the way. When Michael must fight for his honor and Shyne’s freedom, he finds out that Shyne will fight just as hard to keep the man she loves.

FABULOUS. That’s right, I said it. I came into this series here, at Book 4, and did not want for anything. It is a rare thing to step into a series that is well underway and not be lost without the back story. R.E. Butler has a way of describing just enough of past events for the reader to understand the reference but not detract from the story or make you feel as if you missed something.

And, oh, the story! This wasn’t the boy-meets-girl, boy-fights-for-girl, boy-gets-girl story of ye olde romance novels. The characters are so real, I want to move to Allen, Kentucky, and get to know them more. I was as proud of Shyne’s accomplishments as everyone else, and I was embarrassed for Michael when he was at the zoo. (Sorry, I don’t do spoilers. You’ll have to read it to find out why Michael was so embarrassed.)

However, I will warn you: the sexual tension throughout this book is maddening. Michael is a man of amazing character and, I must say, willpower. When Michael finally takes Shyne as his mate (and you knew he would), it is well worth the wait.

Of course, anyone who knows me knows that I am a series junkie. So, once I finished this book, I had to go and purchase the first three to read all the details about the rest of the Tressel Pack. I think I’ll wait to post those reviews as teasers for when she writes Book 5 . . . which I hope is soon!
