Let me start off by saying that when i first read the synopsis to this book i thought it was just going to be another zombie book. Oh how wrong i was! Deadly Descent was so different then anything i have ever read. The plot was amazingly original, making it such a fresh read. The author did a wonderful job incorporating the fears of the unknown with John and Tori coming in from the outside into a situation that no one knew about as well as the fear of the characters being secluded from the world in the facility hundreds of feet underwater. The character growth was another thing that was great about this book. In the very beginning you meet John and Tori. You are shown how distinct their personalities are. For example, you learn John, coming from a military background, takes charge immediately upon landing the sub at the facility using violence if need be, whereas, Tori, who is a scientist, tries to get to the root of the problems by a passive way, trying to save who she can in a cure can be found. As the book goes on you watch these characters as well as a few other grow into one another giving an aspect besides fear to the book.
One of my favorite things about this book is the ending. The author did a wonderful job of keeping the reader guessing and he even left it where if he wanted to do a sequel he could. I look forward to reading more by this author, especially if she decides to do a sequel to this amazing delightful read!!
