Bravo for this new novella by Peter Cimino. I sat down and read Lucky Says Hello in one sitting. You’ll be introduced to, Pete Carissimo, a Sicilian immigrant, businessman and politician. I would call “Big Pete” an intimidating gentleman. The setting in this book is so true to life, you might think you walked back in time to New Jersey, 1931.
The author does a great job of writing believable characters. I felt like I was right there at the table with Big Pete and his “family” as they talked of secrets…and how to keep them secret. This is where the gangster, Charles “Lucky” Luciano, comes in. He could very well be the biggest secret of all. When Big Pete glared across the table at his meetings, even I knew he meant business. Without giving away spoilers, I won’t go into too much detail about the story. Don’t be fooled by this book being a Novella. The storyline and characters will take you to a satisfied ending. I enjoyed reading Lucky Says Hello, and would like to read more about these characters and their story. I’m looking forward to more books by Mr. Cimino.
