Snow's apples scattered at her feet when she heard an animal rustle the bushes just outside of the orchard's clearing. The bushes shook again. Her feet kicked out from beneath her skirt, and before she knew it she was fleeing across the fields, her fragile heart fluttering faster than it ever had.
A rough hand wrapped around Snow's throat, and she knew she would die. A dark fear clouded her vision and numbed her body, and the last thing she saw before she lost consciousness was the steel eyes of a man looking down at her, his arms wrapped around her thin body, and a long blade being unsheathed from a holster at his chest...
