Lovely read! I read her other BDSM universe novels (fanfiction) and I loved them, so I had to buy this one too. Xanthe has created a captivating universe that I can't really get enough of. As it is an original novel you don't have the advantage of already knowing the characters and background, but she paints those clearly and endearingly. And in the end you will love them. There are two people in this book that would warrant a novel of their own I think (I won't say who, if you read it, you will know).

All in all: if you are interested in the BDSM Universe, buy this eBook, it's totally worth it.

And I can't wait for her next novel.

I'm a long time reader of Xanthe's stories so could not pass up a chance to read something original by her. I have also always enjoyed her BDSM world where there are limited labels. This was a good book a fun fast read but I wanted more. More chapters more just more :)

I've been a fan of Xanthe's work for many years now, and the BDSM world has been a favorite of mine. So buying and reading this original book set in that very same 'verse was a no brainer.

Like people before me already pointed out, the book felt a little rushed in places. While I enjoyed the story overall and loved the relationship between Rick and Matt from the very beginning, I felt that the "bad guy" was a little too constructed to be hated and that some scenes weren't a favorite of the author and she rushed through them to be over and done with them as fast as possible. That's a shame because I know she can do so much better.

Still, I enjoyed the book and don't regret buying it. It's still tons better than some other things you can buy out there. And at the end of the day, she wanted to provide a love story, and she definitely gave me that.

Anyway, I hope she'll write more original fiction and won't be discouraged. I know she can make it.

I love Xanthe's work. I read this in a few hours and enjoyed it, It was worth the cost, I did think some scenes could of been expanded though. It felt rushed at times, and some things seemed to happen too fast without conflict, but on the whole a solid, and enjoyable read. I would recomend it.

Bought and devored this in about six hours, just couldn't put it down! While some points seemed extremely rushed, and I would have loved to see a few scenes fleshed out a bit more, it was still a spectacular read and well worth the $6! Xanthe has always had a way of making it easy to get inside her characters heads, and Ricochet is no different. I wanted to reach through the pages on several occasions and knock some sense into more than one character. I hope to see more like this.

Sorry to keep a star in reserve - I prefer Xanthe's dramatic stories. Didn't expect to like this novel much, but she made it work. Something about the characters, IDEK, had to read it through in one session. Waiting patiently for the next publication!

An absolutely wonderful read. It's refreshing to read a story that emphasises the exchange part of power exchange, rather than making it one sided. Thank you for yet another great story in this universe, Xanthe!

I really enjoyed this story. I loved the continuation of Xanthe's BDSM universe and the details and nods to the other stories in the series. The developing relationship between Matt and Rick was wonderful along with the various relationships in the background. The BDSM was very tastefully written and fit perfectly for the characters. I was worried several times that the villains would triumph, or at least succeed in their evil plots, and it was wonderful suspense!

Review by: Diamond Raven on Nov. 11, 2012 :
I absolutely loved this novel! The characters were very well written and the plot moved at a good pace. The chemistry between Rick and Matt sizzled and readers are rooting for them to get together from the very beginning. I've never read a BDSM story before and I was extremely wary of trying it out. I'm so glad I did. The BDSM elements of the sex in the novel perfectly fits with the characters who are engaged in it, whether it's Rick and Matt's first time together or their sexual interactions with other people. I've never understood the appeal of engaging in a BDSM relationship, from the perspective of a dom or a sub, but the author describes a sub and dom's headspaces so well and fits the transitions so seamlessly into the scenario taking place that I found myself not only sucked into the story and immensely enjoying it, but also being able to relate to these characters which I didn't think I'd be able to do. All of that should be credited to the author and her amazing writing style and the amazing characters and story she established. I can't wait to read more from this author!

Fuck, that was sexy. Maybe a sequel for Daniel and Karl? With a side dish of Rick/Matt and their lifebonding adventures ;)

Loved the writing as always, Xanthe! And I'm hoping you'll be able to write another one.

To any and all potential readers: well-written, fast-paced, loads of sexy time, a universe in which BDSM is NOT something to be cured of, two absolutely adorable boys, a nice supporting cast, potential for a sequel, and loads of drama and fluff!

Really wonderful! Very easy to follow and definitely in Xanthe's style. I think she made a great decision when she chose a TV show setting - the familiarity of it made reading all the more enjoyable!

The characters are an amazing, fun loving bunch. I loved following Rick and Matt through their ups and downs, with the occasional tug at my heartstrings. Great balance of tears and laughter.

I did feel that some areas were glossed over in order to push the story forward, particularly towards the end. But I understand that Xanthe really was trying to keep the word count down and I think it still worked very well. Maybe I just wanted more to read!

The book ends nicely with the potential for a sequel...what can I say? This book leaves me wanting more and it's definitely one that I'll return to again! An amazing read and a delightful journey. Thank you so much Xanthe!

I have been a long time fan of Xanthe's amazing Fan Fic stories for years and was so excited when she told of her new venture into original fiction within her own created 'BDSM Universe'.

I absolutely loved the book, it had everything a good story needs, it is extremely well written, has great characters, lots of humour and a good amount of angst too...and lots of hot spanking and sex.

I highly recommend reading this, if you are unsure, check out her Fan Fic novels which are on her website you wont be disappointed!

I absolutely loved this wonderful book! The characters were so real I felt as if I could fly out to LA and visit them on the set of my fictional new favorite TV show. I just wanted to shake Matt at times and ask him if “that” Dominant’s plans for their life together was really how he wanted to live the rest of his life! And Rick was so intensely protective of subs (I love that in a Dom), and painfully unsure of himself. It was truly endearing.

I am already really looking forward to what I hope will be the next one in Xanthe's BDSM universe. (I’m not mentioning the hoped for main pairing to avoid even the appearance of spoilers!)

Xanthe, thanks for a delightful reading experience.

Truly amazing! I wasn't able to put it down until the very end.I was captivated by the characters and they became so real as I read every word. Matt's struggle to finally let go and in turn find his true self and Rick (damn I love him) and his own struggle to let go of the past and be what e was in fact born to be. Their journey to get together was certainly not easy and made more difficult by their Y chromosome issues, but in the end it was so worth it.

Truly an amazing story with an absolutely wonderful mix of characters that you are drawn to. A stupendous read that leaves you wanting more...I want so much more...

I have been a fan of Xanthe’s writing for a number of years, and was curious to read how she would transition both her story-telling, (this has always been my favourite part of her writing) and her wonderful BDSM universe, to an original work. She did not disappoint.
Ricochet, is full of well developed characters, great story-lines, and that lovely touch of humour she is so well known for.
This is a great read, take your time to fully enjoy the world, and characters, she has created, it will leave you both satisfied, yet wanting more, which to me, is always the hallmark of a really good writer.

Review by: georgie smith on Nov. 05, 2012 :
Xanthe Walter’s first self-published novel is a whirlwind of delights. Ricochet is a romantic BDSM comedy with fantasy undertones which is rife with complex characters who inhabit the alternate universe she’s created where sexuality is more freely expressed and gender isn’t an issue as everyone identifies as either sexually dominant, submissive or a switch (or more rarely non-dynamic) and it’s that dynamic that draws them to a potential partner.

Ricochet is set in a world that the author created and explored through five fan fiction novels, though you do not have to have read them to understand the societal rules in play here. Xanthe deftly weaves the explanations and intricacies of this universes social mores through her character’s actions, dialogue and innermost thoughts.

Her leading men are as different from one another as they can be. Rick O’Shea is a freewheeling, fun-loving dom with a spanking fetish, an actor playing a precocious sub on the hottest show on television – Collar Crime. Matt Lake is a fastidious sub, suffering from anxiety and OCD as well as being an actor and one of Rick’s co-stars on the show. They’re friends who playfully tease and snipe at one another, who relish working with one another but never consider one another as a potential partner as they’re both looking for different things. Rick is a playboy who has a strict policy of “no repeats” – he staunchly refuses to bed the same sub twice; Matt is looking for a reliable, steady dom – someone he can serve without giving too much of himself. When things finally become heated between the two, Rick backs off telling Matt to find a steady, reliable dom who will take care of him and it isn’t long before Matt finds himself swept off his feet by an incredibly wealthy, well-connected, and, on the surface, perfect dom. It’s only a matter of time before circumstances bring matters to a boiling point and lives are changed forever.

The sex scenes are robust; at the beginning, we watch our leading men as they engage in unmeaningful and sometimes unfulfilling sexual encounters with unsuitable partners until eventually they finally reach the conclusion that the reader (and their co-workers) were hoping for from the start. It’s an often times painful to journey to witness, but necessary in order for the characters to become the person the other needs. Although there are a few scenes between couples of the opposite sex, a majority of the sexual situations in the book are between male couples. While this might be off-putting for some, the sex scenes aren’t pointlessly written and are a woven throughout in such a way that they become an integral part of the tapestry of the overall story. As would be expected in a BDSM novel, characters engage in kinky sex – spanking, bondage and the like – but these acts are presented as extensions of who the characters are at the very core of their being and not merely for gratuitous titillation.

There are a couple of very discreet nods to Xanthe’s loyal fan fiction readers, which alternately had me snickering and laughing out loud. Although this is her first self-published, completely original character-driven novel, Xanthe has over a dozen fan fiction novels under her belt from several different fandoms. All of those novels include a vast array of three-dimensional original characters that are just as engaging as those from the fandom in which she’s drawing from. It comes as no surprise then that in Ricochet she populates her landscape with lush, fully-formed characters who aren’t all bad or all good, but who are tinged with various shades of grey.

That leads me to the obvious comparisons between this novel and E.L. James’ best-selling novel 50 Shades of Grey. Admittedly, I haven’t read any of James’ books. I’ve read excerpts and listened to snippets of famous people reading from them which were enough to convince me that even though I wanted to support a fan writer gone pro and the idea of her work was rather intriguing to me, the execution was sorely lacking. While both authors find their roots in writing fan fiction and use BDSM has a backdrop, the similarities end there. James’ hackneyed, juvenile prose is well-suited to the Twilight fan base from which she emerged, whereas Walter’s powerful writing flows expertly and rushes the reader headlong into a beautifully crafted world from which you won’t want to leave.

I feel duty-bounded to tell you that when you curl up with it in your favorite comfy chair, be sure to give yourself the time to fully immerse yourself in this marvelous novel because once you pick it up, you won’t want to put it down. Although she’s already set the mark quite high for herself with her first-rate debut, Xanthe Walters is an author you should keep an eye on because she shows the promise of even greater things to come.

Xanthe Walter made and makes me happy. I'm still reading her awesome written wonderful exciting, funny, hot, emphatetic, profound written book. Yeah I know, this sounds too good to be the truth. But this book has everything a reader can wish for. The protagonists are all women and men of a character. The protagonists have depth. They seem credible and the reader can feel with them and understand them and why they do what they do. It's such a pleasure to read this book and I think it's a: Must-Read! It's almost as like as you were standing near the characters and watch them by their acts and deeds. Awesomeness pure!!
The plot is profound and has depth too.
It must be such a hard work to write a book of this quality. Thank you Mrs. Walter. If I could give 10 stars, I would do this.
