Geoffrey Edgar Herbert Terry (Synonym; Herbert Edgar), was born on the 11th November 1935, in Ramsgate, Kent, England. His parents were, Richard Ernest Terry, who worked as a patrol assistant for the Automobile Association, and Ethel Maud Elms, a nurse.
He was about twelve years old when his English, literature teacher suggested that he should devote his life to writing. He didn’t and now it’s getting late.
An attempt to follow his teachers’ advice did result in an incomplete autobiography, written during his early fifties, however, it was obvious that the autobiography of an unknown would be of no interest to readers and the project was shelved. Any further attempt to write was hindered by constant commitments until, in 1992, Geoffrey moved, with his Czech born wife to Florida, and began to write in earnest.
The concept was to write a trilogy based on the phrase:
I was born when you kissed me,
I lived while you loved me,
I died when you left me.
The first book in the trilogy, entitled ‘Visions’, was completed and self-published in 1994 and a promotional, book-signing tour of the southern states resulted in considerable interest. The consequence was that Geoffrey decided to write the second book; ‘Quartet’ and a further promotional tour provided the encouragement to complete the series with ‘Hrad’, which in Czech language means Castle. More than 12,000 copies were sold over a three-year period.
Following their decision to return to Europe, the books were removed from offer in the USA; the intention being to write an English/English version, and replace what had previously been written in the American Vernacular. The rewrite involved a period of three years, in fact more time than that required for the original composition; however, without contacts in the ‘closed shop’ world of publishing in Europe, no attempt was made to have the books published.
Fifteen years had passed by the time Geoffrey decided it might be amusing to write an erotic novel; paying great attention to style and quality of writing. The result was the period, adventure story, ‘Golden Rose’. The manuscript was submitted to Pink Flamingo and accepted for publication in April 2011.
My Green Publisher accepted the ‘English’ re-write of Herbert Edgar’s trilogy and finally the opportunity has arrived to offer many years of devoted work to those who enjoy a story in constant motion.
Action, adventure, intrigue, mystery and romance are evident in the books and there is never a dull moment.
The original titles of the three books were exchanged with the subtitles and the phrase on which the series was based becomes the three titles.
