Extended description

The raid on Dieppe on August 19,1942 is Canada's most traumatic military event. This book examines the questions raised by that event. Among the issues considered are the role of heavy bombers in a tactical setting, the role of the Navy in supporting Army operations, and the role of the major characters. The major characters for this Operation were Winston Churchill, General Alan Brooke, Vice Admiral Mountbatten, and Lt. General Bernard Montgomery.
Other amphibious landings are considered and comparisons made with the raid on Dieppe. A number of what if scenarios are considered to see how the operation might have been handled differently.
