I was born in raised in San Francisco, CA. I enjoy spending time with my wonderful family and pets. I'm a spiritual person who enjoys hiking, meditating, cooking, healthy-eating, and yoga. I'm always adventurous in a sense of discovering new hobbies & interests.
I look back at all the poems I have written and appreciate the evolution of my writing style and techniques. Prior to winter 2006, I had little interest in poetry until a few, interesting events weaved together. These few incidents guided to me poetry as an outlet to my many burstful emotions longing for a steam of release. As a result, I ended up writing about over half of the material in less than a week's time which debuted in my first poetry compilation, Misty Dawn Road.
These days I continue to write poems. And I've dared myself to venture my way into creating short stories.

This is the first work published by John Archievald Gotera. And it is certainly a success. Misty Dawn Road is crafted beautifully with carefully chosen words that perfectly describe emotions and experiences we all at times face. From pieces on new discoveries and dealing with the unknown, to remembering the past, Misty Dawn Road is definitely a path worth exploring. Not only do the poems relate to some of the deepest feelings we hold, but poems such as “Wanderlust” and “Misunderstood Nature” offer a renewed perspective on life.

Misty Dawn Road aptly captures both mystery and wonder, uncertainty and hope, despair and healing. Gotera's use of vivid metaphors sets the foundation for mental scenes where the imagination can roam free. His poetry touches on a broad range of shared human emotions that unify our life experiences. I can extract his passion and find meaning for it in the context of my own life. The alternating somber and upbeat nature of this compilation mirrors the often rollercoaster journey through life, full of both success and failure, love and hate, loss and gain.
