Jerry Atkins is a rich, powerful self-made man that gives no quarter to anyone. He is convinced that he has no equal, no competition, and is getting slightly bored, but doesn’t realize that there is an entity listening.
Jerry suddenly finds himself powerless and exposed. At first he thinks he is going insane, but eventually realizes that he is being dominated by something more powerful than he.
We are in a difficult time in human history. We have incredible privilages that have never been available before, and for many of us life is easy, but the sense of sustainability is fleeting. A feeling of doom is quietly overtaking us because too few have too much and are widening the gap, relishing in their crushing, overwhelming take it all attitudes.
Power is power and is extremely addictive because it allows those with it to do as they please and suffer no consiquences. We may think we are above being manipulated by the rich, but they hold all the cards because they are the top of the food chain and to alienate their favor is counter productive to those beneath; which leaves us to bicker amongst ourselves. They have no conscience because they have no price to pay. They are immune because there is no higher power.
