I was looking for a quick Christmas read so Secret Santa looked liked what I was hoping for. Not. It sure was about Christmas in a small town but there were so many characters that I just couldn't keep track of who everyone was. I haven't read anything else in this series so maybe that was my problem.

The secret Santa part was great. I liked the mystery of who he was and why he was giving out the unique gifts. I also loved a bit during the delivery of one of the babies. It went like this:

"It hurts!" she screamed.
"Of course it does, that's why it's a woman's job." Marcy joked quietly.

I loved that!

My first taste of Kathleen Brooks and the Bluegrass Brothers series...and as a romantic novel I really enjoyed it. The characters were fun and the fairy godmother element was perfect for the Christmas feel of the novel. Some of the details used a little bit of imagination to accept--such as the Malinois dog being friendly and jovial, and everyone being gorgeous and happy and in love--but the warm and cozy description of the Bluegrass was light and felt familiar and authentic. Some of the descriptions really stuck with me, really popped in the pages and lingered long after. Such as the Santa with the abs. That one will be hard to forget ;)
