Extended description

To escape the depressed mood of the nation two teenage students go on a camping trip to a remote river valley,where they become acquainted with an odd fellow that lives a life of tranquility. This Doc, as he is called, is cherished by the local hill folk for the medical care he provides them.
When the nation enters World War II the students are drafted. One of the young men returns from the war traumatized by the horrors he endured. His friend observes his trauma. To offset this tormented anguish, the pair form a pack. Inspired by the devoted life of the Doc, they form a plan to honor him through exploits that mimics the adventures of comic book heroes.

The lead pair’s exploits appear again in a sequel novel that are critical to the plot of the “The Soda Pop Partners “.
