It is 1985. The long war for Eritrean indepence has been over-layed with drought and famine, and the on-going hostilities prevent aid from reaching remote villages. The people in these villages must leave their homes and make the perilous journey over vast distances and at the mercy of many feral para-military groups in an attempt to reach international aid camps.
