Shorter than I expected even a short story to be. Although it was nice to get through a story in the limited time frame I have these days to enjoy a book. I haven't read the others in the series, but this definitely whetted my appetite for them :)

This is a quick little read, a 31 page novella which is a prequel to the author's Pembroke Palace Series. I haven't read the author's other books, however this does make me want to read them, although I wasn't totally captivated by the characters. I also thought the female protagonist's father change in behaviour was rather abrupt and jarring. But it's a really good introduction, and the characters, the landscape, and the historical times seem to be well written.
