I read this book and the sequel "The Queen's Witch" and loved them both. They are very fast paced with wonderful characters. The only drawback was that there were some sub-plots that could have done with some more story time. I understood the need to have the protag's daughter in the story but her reaction to a traumatic experience was missing. I know that with the fast apcing there wouldn't be much room for this but a hint here and there would have turned a great story into an outstanding one.

The Gauntlet is a short story about one of the characters in the Cassie Palmer series, Kit Marlow.
There isn't much about Kit's background in the series, so having this short story about his early years is great!

I loved watching Kit in action in this short novella about The Circle and The Coven witches and mages. It was great to meet Gillian and looking forward to what happens next in the short also featuring her and her second adventure with Kit, "The Queen's Witch".

Another fantastic short story, which links in with the Queens Witch, Kit Marlowe and the Cassie Palmer series.
I would like to take this opportunity to ask Karen Chance to write more in the D. Basarab series, which I think is even more brilliant than the Cassie Palmer books.
