Short description

“Polie” Smithe finds a ceramic shard that might be of ET origin and sets off to find the rest. By weird logic he locates the two other pieces and obtains them by daring and strange moves. He learns some secrets of the reassembled Orb - only to have it alter itself in a way that makes it more of a mystery but less obviously useful to the Army General or the tycoon who have also been seeking it.
