About M.D. Stephens

When I first started writing, I wrote nothing but Horror, Fantasy, and Drama stories. Some of the scenes contained graphic violence and strong sexual situations. When I went back to revise those stories, I liked them, but I found myself embarassed to let close friends and family read them. I was afraid they'd think I was some crazy lunatic. I wrote these kind of stories because that's what I like to read. Some of my favorite authors are Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Peter Straub, Bentley Little, and James Patterson. Stephen King wrote, "Writing is a way to let the mind misbehave." I always loved that quote and took it to it's fullest.

Now that I'm older and have two small boys of my own, I would like to start writing stories that are more suitable for readers of all ages. I'm not saying that I'm completely abandoning the crazy stuff, It will always be a part of my writing. If you like that kind of stuff, I have another Smashwords account with my older stories (the link is below, or look up Matthew Stephens) Check it out, but don't say I didn't warn you. Ha!

Coming soon:

Fast Fears #2: Demon Brother
(Fast Fears is a scary chapter book, or novella, series for all ages. It's like R.L. Stine's Goosebumps, only a bit more frightening and may not be suitable for small children.)

Coming late this year:
The Man Upstairs (An adult novel)

Strange Mutations (A collection of short stories for adults)

I hope to hear from ya and keep reading!

A PERFECT story for this time of year. :) Loved it.
My only non-positive thing to say -- and I have been guilty of this in my writing many, many times -- is that the ending was a bit abrupt.
