Sometimes you think life just can't get any worse and then it surprises you…..and it does get worse. May of 1994, I was upstairs putting clothes away when I heard the phone ring. I came downstairs when I heard Jeff talking and he sounded really upset. I walked downstairs as he was getting off of the phone. As soon as he told me what happened I sat down on the couch terrified. I knew in my heart of hearts what it was before the words even crossed his lips. My heart was beating so hard all I could hear was the throbbing in my head as the blood coursed through my veins at a breakneck speed.
