Extended description

Fletcher Haywood is unhappy in the quiet, grueling way that people who have no concrete reason to be unhappy so often are. His dreams are dying on the vine and he's not even really sure what they are, so he responds in the way most angst-ridden twenty-first century Americans do: he auditions to be on a reality television show. Perplexingly, he's accepted, and ships off for a desert island where he endures a series of increasingly bizarre trials at the hands of the shows producers. His mind crumbling at the edges like a stale fortune cookie, his hair full of sand, desperately in love with one of his fellow contestants, Fletcher begins to suspect that something nefarious, if not supernatural, is afoot, and that he will probably not make it off the island alive.

A fantastic read. An adventure thriller that is so beautifully written. Fletcher's interior dialogue is brilliant. The twists and turns were unexpected and beautifully done. I sympathized, identified and even laughed out loud at Fletcher. Highly recommend. This would make a fantastic movie.
