Flash fiction stories generally run from between 100 and 1,000 words, with the lower word counts representing a challenge to the writer to craft a story with a beginning, middle, and end, along with characters, plot, maybe a hook or twist, and a resolution.

Even though this is less than 1,000 words, it IS a horror story...so I hope it makes you say "Yipes!" at least once. Enjoy!

A nearly perfect example of what short fiction should be, we never actually see the horrible thing little Jimmy does, the atrocity exits only in our imagination, which can be far worse than any words on a screen. Great use of point of view by having all the action unfold through the mother's eyes, her growing sense of unease is felt by the reader. A great addition to the "evil child" genre and we should definitely see more of little Jimmy in the future.
