What a wonderfully informative book for spouses of those with bipolar disorder! She has a wonderfully candid, down to earth manner about her writing that makes it seem as if she's sitting down you personally offering encouragement, advice and wise counsel. It was a very easy read. I found the chapter on boundaries very applicable and easy to implement.
I would highly recommend this book to others in the same situation. Thank You Bonnie, for taking the time to write this great book!

Bonnie Rice provides a valuable service to spouses and partners of individuals suffering from bipolar disorder. She is not only an excellent writer but also a strong woman, wife and mother. Although she's not a mental health professional, Bonnie has acquired her expertise through years of experience, research and working with both mental health professionals and support groups.
I especially liked Bonnie's emphasis on boundaries and safety as a priority in relationships involving bipolar disorder. Somehow, despite the multiple sources of stress in Bonnie's life, she retains a sense of humor and willingness to reach out and help others. I highly recommend this book to anyone in a relationship with someone with bipolar disorder. If a significant other hasn't been (or refuses to be) professionally diagnosed or treated, it could still help to read this book to better understand this often baffling disorder.

This book was a GREAT help. It made me breath a little easier. My husband has not been offically diagnosed and probably never will be because he refuses to go to any doctor for anything. Bonnie has a way of writing that makes you feel like she's talking to you. Just to read that someone has gone through some of the same things I have helps a lot. I have not discussed this issue with anyone - not family or friends. So her advice on starting a journal has been VERY helpful. Just to be able to get my feelings out has been so theraputic. This book, hands down, is the best book I have read regarding BP.

It's not easy having a bipolar spouse, and sometimes you feel like I have (especially lately) - alone and unable to tell anyone what's going on. Because of this book, I finally was able to get it together and tell some friends of my husband's relapse. What was esp. disheartening was that he was so good for years...only to relapse into major buying sprees when we can ill afford it. The warmth and understanding of this book can't be understated. DEFINITELY worth your while if you have a loved one with bipolar. Ms. Rice lets you know you aren't alone in how you feel.

A must read for anyone married or in a relationship to a beloved sufferer of BP. Bonnie spells out in perfection how to survive and thrive together. Sadly, i read the book too late and my beloved has left me after his/our first episode together. Praying daily that God will bring him back. Read the book...5 stars and then some

Amazing book, i have read many books on bipolar but none really help you understand what it is like to be the loved one and how you can keep your sanity, humour, set boundaries, help your bipolar loved one without losing yourself and so much more. Written by a kind and wise woman who has experienced it all herself and yet is still married!

There are quite a few books on Bipolar Disorder, but not so many with practical advice and wisdom about how to live with a loved one who has it. This one is written from the voice of experience, in the trenches -- and in a concise, entertaining way. The author has raised four children while in a long-term marriage to a bipolar husband -- and made it work. While not everyone can do that, she tells how she did.
But the advice is not just for those living with a bipolar spouse -- it is for everyone with a bipolar loved one in his life!
Although she offers the book as a public service, because she knows how tight finances can be in a household with a bipolar person, it is worth much more!
