The prominent citizens of the Massachusetts town, with lineage dating back to the American Revolution, have a long history of successful smuggling. From cotton during the Civil War to liquor during Prohibition, they were successful at concealing their criminal activities. When bars reopen, the townspeople turn their attention to opium, heroin, cocaine, and marijuana. Imbedded deep in local government, the financial responsibilities for the money laundering and reinvestment of profits is left to skilled financial experts, and the town comes to depend on their illegal activities. Over the course of several years, not only do Riley and Dixon hide their relationship from the townspeople, they manage to get closer to the truth about the smuggling than anyone has come before, and the trail leads them to Boston and Washington, DC. Politicians, from the mayor of Hambleport to Representative Liam Dooley to Assistant Secretary of State Mike Matthias can't afford for Riley and Dixon to succeed, and they call upon the security professionals to shut the FBI investigation down.

Since I have already read and enjoyed twelve of Sara Barton's previous books, when this one came out I didn't even bother to read what it was about. I just downloaded it and dove right in. It took me a few chapters to get into the rhythm of the book but once I did there was no stopping me! This was a very intriguing novella that was similar to the Bodacious Baby Boomer books insomuch as a 'civilian' becomes caught up in the machinations of government agencies vs. baddies. My favorite type of book! Riley isn't a stereotypical timid librarian. She's intelligent and spirited and I couldn't help but compare her to the character Evelyn Carnahan from "The Mummy".

Evelyn: Look, I ... I may not be an explorer, or an adventurer, or a treasure-seeker, or a gunfighter, Mr. O'Connell, but I am proud of what I am.
Rick: And what is that?
Evelyn: I ... am a librarian.

This is a very strong introduction to the "Tell No One" series. I am definitely looking forward to more!

a "Tell No One" Mystery #1
Run for Your Life, Riley Horton! right now is free on smashwords. It's a novela to introduce Sara's brand new series "Tell No One." Based on this novela I will want to read the next one. It's a Mystery that deals with lots of crimes, your never sure who are the good and bad guys. Thier is a lot of action and dramma.
Riley Horton is a research librain who finds information to help students to thier reports. She has found out a lot of information that the criminals don't like. Also she is at the wrong place at the wrong time and finds a dead body.
Riley finds information on the town of Hambleport, Mass. history with the underground railroad to be false. Riley is also being stalked by a powerful man.
I have read lately a lot of Sara M. Barton's books and have liked them and plan to read more in the future. Sara has a lot of free stories and inexpensive stories on
Smashwords,amazon. If you like action mysteries try her books.
I was told that this book was free on smashwords by the author. This is my own opinion of Run for your Life, Riley Horton.
