"Robbie spent the evening in rapt enchantment listening to tales of stagecoaches and six black horses in hand. The boy laughed when told of bushrangers and villains, and how grandpa had routed all those that stood in the way of his coach.

The stories took Robbie aboard and he moved about the front step as though he was on the swaying seat 'up front' with his grandpa driving, cracking a bull whip with a tail as long as a serpent."
