I first read Nicholas Rose when I stumbled upon The Gifted Apprentice as a free offering. Sounds interesting, why not, right? The book was great fun and inspired me to pick up The Gifted Hunter. Not wanting it to end, I looked for other titles by Mr. Rose. I found Markan Throne and downloaded it, easily as pleased as I was with Sallis ti Ath (the main character in The Gifted books). I had no compunctions purchasing Markan Empire, and anxiously awaited the next book in the series. I have watched his blog, waiting for the next installation. Finally, Markan Sword was published and I quickly downloaded the sample chapters! It didn't take me long to know this was worth the price and more and so here I am to get the entire book. While here, I thought it was worth recommending for those who, like me, are always looking for something new and worth our time.

It might (or might not) be important to know that while I am an avid reader, I am a bit of a snob when it comes to my books. I have a small group of authors that I enjoy and re-read when I can't find a new book. These books (The Gifted Apprentice, The Gifted Hunter, Markan Throne, Markan Empire and now Markan Sword) are now on my re-read shelf. They have a permanent home on my e-reader and I will read them again and again. When I discovered Markan Throne would soon be published, I re-read his other books to bring me back to Marka and her outlying neighbors. These books were as much fun to read this last time through as they were the first time around.

Nicholas Rose is proving to be a brilliant author. He has earned a place on my shelves next to Mercedes Lackey, David Weber, David Eddings and Anne MacCaffrey. You want to read these books. You want to meet the leaders of Marka, get to know the sylphs Belaika and Neptarik and introduce yourself to a new world, new characters and great storytelling.

Get the books! You won't be disappointed! Mr. Rose, I hope you are listening and have many more books in this series for us to enjoy. Absolutely Brilliant! For now? It's snowing outside and I'm going to curl up with the rest of this book. Life is good!
