Short description

While a lot of these stories deal with all the shenanigans we pulled in liberty ports in the four corners of the globe, most of the time we were haze grey and underway. So sit back and enjoy reading about a navy that in all probability, no longer exists.

Extended description

In the time of the Vietnam War, if you were a young man coming of age, you had two choices: Be drafted to Vietnam, or join a department that Vietnam had no use of. I chose the latter, and joined the Navy. It'll be fun, they said. See the world, they said. Well, it wasn't all fun and games. Not one to dwell on the unpleasant, I've compiled some of my fonder memories of the Navy, before they're lost to obscurity forever. Ever play tag with the ocean?

I too was a Tin-Can Sailor serving on the USS ENGLISH DD-696. This book brought back so many GREAT memories of those days on board ship. I was on during the Cuban blockade in 1962 and we did a Med Cruise in 1963. Living on a destroyer is an adventure I will never forget and this book brings back those good, and bad days. Well written and worth the time to read. More in the works please???
