Donna Van Cleve began her writing career as an award-winning columnist for a weekly newspaper in South Texas. She earned her bachelor's degree in art, but it wasn't long before a passion for writing took over. She managed a public library for nine years before earning a master's degree to become a school librarian, in which she has six years experience. She says the work of a librarian is the best job for a writer-- getting to work with people and information and books all day.
Her first book, Grace Falling Like Rain, was a finalist in the 2007 Writers' League of Texas' Violet Crown Award for fiction. A memoir and an excerpt from her third book, Torn Asunder, each won first play in their respective categories at the 2008 East Texas Christian Writers Conference. Her YA manuscript, Reality Tales, was also a finalist in the 2009 WLT Manuscript Contest.
Donna lives in a restored 1921 Victorian home outside of Austin, Texas. The house has two large porches where she loves to sit and read or visit with family and friends. She has two grown children and son-in-law, and three grandchildren who inspire her and give her lots of ideas to write about.
