Michael Sedgwick was born in Hampshire, England. He graduated from King’s College, London University, in 1961 with a B.Sc. degree in chemistry and physics. Much of his career with a multinational corporation involved technical writing and it was not until 1983 that he returned to his early love of English literature.
He has written a number of short stories published under the titles Of Heaven & Earth, Philandering, An Unlucky Brake, Second Time Around, Satan Wears Red and The Boy Who Lost His Oomph. In 2011 he published Bramdean, a late 18th Century romance set near his birthplace in Jane Austen's Hampshire, England. In his new novel, Light on a Distant Shore, the author explores a futuristic clash between a plutocratic governing body, a married couple's love, a seductress's destructive influence, and the protagonist's efforts to make the dream of nuclear fusion a reality.
