This is a short story.
Long before the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, the United States started building a super-collider at Waxahatchee, Texas.
During that construction, a Navajo Shepherd, in the high country with only his dogs and flock, is visited by a vulture which warns him against the search for the Higgs Boson.
Not knowing what Waxahatchee or the Higgs Boson is, nor how to react to this warning, the shepherd embarks on a journey of discovery that leads to a startling record of missed opportunities to change history.
