ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Kim was born and raised in Cuba. In 1980, she immigrated to the United States. Since her early youth she felt a passion for books and medicine. In 1986, she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Miami. Upon graduation she was hired as a laboratory researcher at her Alma Mater Medical School.
Kim had a dream to enter graduate school to pursue a doctorate degree in Microbiology that same year. Her dream was abruptly shattered when a slew of very strange symptoms such as intractable vertigo, vomiting and loss of balance rendered her totally incapacitated.
Back in the Swirl is a recount of Kim’s relentless quest to find a name and successful treatment for her mysterious illness. After three years of searching for an answer, she was finally diagnosed with Meniere’s Disease. Her gripping story also narrates very accurately the ongoing battle she has sustained over twenty years to conquer multiple chronic conditions associated with Meniere such as Migraines and Depression.
Kim’s book is the only book in the market authored by a Bilateral Meniere patient. Kim is a staunch mental health advocate. She also suffers from Klippel –Trenaunay syndrome (KT), a rare vascular, congenital disorder. She is a proud member of NORD, The National Organization for Rare Diseases.
Kim enjoys swimming, comedy, home decoration and orchids. She resides in Florida and is the proud mother of three children.
