A violent mutant motorbike gang known as the Thunder Railers are forced to leave their polluted island and descend on Wylderock, a small coastal town.

At the local hospital Doctor Pierce is about to make a breakthrough with his experiments in human biorhythms ... if only he could stop his patients from combusting.

Giant midnight-blue birds once thought to be extinct hover ominously around the pier and seafront cliffs.

In the midst of this we join Detective Ving Jun Lee as he arrives from the city, exiled after a recent disaster in the line of duty.

All four worlds will collide on New Years Eve 1957.
