John Stilwell was born and raised in the midwest. From 1982 through 1985 he was regularly published in several popular computer magazines such as Compute!, Compute! Gazette, Powerplay and RUN. He has two drgrees in Electrical Engineering and practicing his trade on the East coast. Today, he is an Engineer by day and an author and artist by night.
He has traveled extensively overseas with his hobbies being various and regularly changing. They have ranged from studying massage to bungie jumping. In the 1990's he learned to draw and produced a respectable quantity, selling an occasional piece. He entered one of his charcoals in an art show and was voted people's choice.
In the late 2000's his daughter talked him into doing science projects together and creating youtube videos of them. Some include a leaf blower powered one-man hovercraft, a solar powered hot air balloon cam and various magnetic levitation curiosities.
In 2010, he re-entered the world of writing, with several books ans short stories.

I love this cookbook. The author introduces us to his family, (and includes photos) which made me feel a connection to them. There are plenty of recipes to be found, some I knew and some I didn't. As this is a family cookbook spanning generations familiar recipes are to be expected. Some are not so healthy but oh so good. I love gravy. I grew up with gravy and biscuits. Not many cookbook writers today are willing to put that in their cookbook. When I saw that I knew the author was being true. A unique thing in this book is the inclusion of videos for some of the recipes. I think that is awesome! some of my favorite recipes include Bosnian Salad, (very healthy),Barbecue Shrimp (Cajun) and the Bacon, Egg and Cheese Crescents, (perfect for on the go eating). The one drawback for me was the bread recipes. I do not have a bread machine so would have liked the alternate recipe for non machine bread making. still, I loved this cookbook and am giving it 5 stars.
