Marney Young is a reserved, sixteen-year-old girl with an aversion to performance but a breathtaking talent for songwriting. She is assigned to join a team of brilliant young musicians, actors, visual artists and dancers. Their task: to teach the arts to aliens.

On arrival, they discover Krydos is a planet much like Earth; however, the Krydosian people have one distinct disadvantage–they lack the ability to feel emotion. Their right brain has remained dormant throughout evolution, which has led to a society whose every decision has been based on left-brain logic and reason.

Marney lacks leadership qualities. Or so she thinks. Teaching is the last profession she ever considered for herself, and she struggles to meet the challenges this presents. She agrees to work alongside Spencer Wright, the arrogant, surly teen actor whose entitled attitude drives Marney to distraction, but whose unwavering belief in her unique abilities helps her find the courage she needs to transform an ent..
