I was surprised how much I liked this book. A great "who done it" type book set in a small town where everyone knows everyone. Roger owns a mechanic shop with his childhood friend David. When he meets Mary, a new comer in town, he falls head over heels but the murder of a long time friend sends the town into a frenzy as those closest to Roger become suspects, including himself. The plot is interesting and moves at a nice pace while the sweet relationship between Roger and Mary is a nice side story amongst the chaos of the town. A fantastic read!

I just finished reading Friends and Strangers for the second time and like the first time I read this story John Miller did a great job keeping my attention. John has a natural talent in holding ones attention in his books. The suspense was great as was the romance. I think John takes real life problems romance and mysteries to form his words into stories that capture a persons mind. I would have to give John a 10 on a scale of 1 to 5 if it could be done This story is a MUST READ for any age.

The characters develop at a natural pace, and I had to read much further into the night than I intended, at every sitting, because I was desperate to see how the relationship blossomed.
And all that, before we get to the murder mystery. This is a well-crafted story, carried along mainly by largely believable, unforced, dialogue, interspersed with good, clear descriptions of scenes.
Enjoyable and recommended!

I loved the way Roger and Mary's relationship developed. It was sweet, old-fashioned courting and both of them made decisions as strong partners to keep it growing. The characters are well-developed and the reader gets a taste of strengths and weaknesses, quirks and endearing traits. It's not just a romance. Trust, friendship, and loyalty are all part of the story, and part of the solution to the murder mystery, too.
