About Cori Nicole Smith

CORI NICOLE SMITH holds BAs in both English and biology and an MA in English from West Virginia University. Her written works include the Martina Mackenzie series, of which 4 novels have been written (middle grade), Confessions of the Editor Brigand (adult), and The Knight and the Ninjas (children's epic poem).

Cori's manuscript for Martina Mackenzie: The Diana's Eye was a semi-finalist, ranked in the top 100 submissions, in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award Contest in 2008. She edited the novel Ordinary People Extraordinary Planet (authored by Dr. Shellie Hipsky), based on interviews from the radio show of the same name.

Since October of 2005, Cori has worked as a technical writer and editor while writing and polishing her novels. When she isn't writing, she enjoys playing piano, salsa dancing, and working on various crafts. She performed as a singer/dancer for a cabaret-style dinner theater performance fundraiser for the Homeless Children's Education Fund in October 2010 and helps out with other fundraising activities for the charity. In fall 2009, she was an extra in the movie Love and Other Drugs.

Some of Cori's favorite literary works are Salman Rushdie's Midnight's Children, Wilkie Collins's No Name, Christopher Paolini's Inheritance Cycle, and Edgar Allan Poe's short stories.

She and her husband and daughter reside in Washington, Pa., a short distance from Bridgeport, W.Va., where she grew up.
