In a wild, primeval world filled with wonders and danger the small Huatti lizardman Tudhala Ramal travels with the human hunter Braega, and Alia, Braega's companion, a giant marsupial lion. Lost ruins and hidden places of power in the deep forests abound, and it is to these places they find themselves drawn.

In these first two Primal Tales short stories, Tudhala begins to get a sense of how dangerous the world is beyond his homeland.

The Hall of Black Trees; In the deep and wild forests of a primal world lurk ancient ruins built by unknown hands. Ignoring the perils that surround it, a band of Huatti lizardmen set forth to explore the ruins, only to awaken the horror that lies within, and only the hunter Braega can lead them to safety.

The Painted Ones: The hunter Braega is deathly ill, tainted by The Hall of Black Trees, and his little lizardman companion, Tudhala is worried, being unable to help him.
