A minstrel/scribe comes to Christian's serfdom, and Christian would like him to stay. But there are troubles in the land. A strange beast is hunting in the forest that Christian let Jarman and his pack of vampires call home. The lord of the neighboring lands is having financial problems, but still declares war on witches. Jarman's love interest—a fetching witch who travels to his forest to celebrate the solstices—lives in those lands. Tensions are running high, and the minstrel decides to write songs for each story. But soon, even the minstrel is part of the drama.
