Embrace the Dark is a short love story about taking chances and realizing what you've been missing. I have to be next with you, I was a little wary with starting this book but once I got through the first page I was already to finish the book.
Gerrod is the Mastyr Vampire of the Merhaine realm and he takes his duties as ruler very, very seriously. He's honorable, caring, and down right lethal when it comes to protecting the "people" of his realm. But being a Mastyr Vimpire isn't all sunshine and flowers, no Gerrod has been blood starving for as long as he can remember and its gotten a lot worse in the last year.
Abigail only wants to open up a bakery in the Merhaine Realm, she never imagined that she'd feel the way she does about the Mastyr Vampire of the realm. She has spent the last year trying to not want Gerrod but she sees him.. the real him and understands instinctively what he needs after a perfect night goes slightly wrong.
For these two star crossed beings things are about to change, all they have to do is accept it or not. Nothing too hard about that except in between figuring out what's between them, they have to figure out what the evil Invictus are truly after. Because in the realm of Merhaine nobody is safe and Gerrod's people are going missing.
I enjoyed this first book in the Blood Rose series way to much. The world Roane has created is both magical and dark, she's filled it with magical faes, extremely gossipy trolls, evil wraiths, the abominations called Invictus, and the all too sexy vampires who control it all. She injected so much humor into the story, but its not overwhelming.
4 1/2 black rose to EMBRACE THE DARK. I highly recommend this book. The world building is different and believable.
