He owns a bar, is in a comfortable relationship with his beautiful girl friend, and is slowly gaining recognition among the townsfolk, students, street freaks and cops. But one day, as he's driving through campus, the world fades away and he wakes up in a mental institution. Nineteen years have passed in what to him is just an instant. His only clue is a fade note: "Don't come back to Chapel Hill; you're wanted for murder."
Digger learns he'd been found comatose from an unknown drug overdose by the body of a cop. Uncharged all these years because of his mental condition, he has a mysterious trust fund and an opportunity to start life over far away. But he realizes he must return to North Carolina and prove his innocence, not only to the world, but most importantly to himself.
