The story presents the complete details of her growing up in that house-hold.The story opens with the predicament of a family. The Smolinsky family happens to be on the verge of starvation. Bessie, Mashah, and Fania are the elder daughters in the house. Unfortunately, they are unable to find work.
Mashah happens to have some money, but she spends that money to make herself look more beautiful.
